A BRIEF ENGLISH SUMMARY OF OUR VISIT
In this document we have written, in Spanish, about our experiences during our trip to Sweden. However, if we had to summarise it in a few lines, these would be our three most relevant memories:
1. The people and the society.
First of all, from the very beginning till the end of our trip, we always felt that no matter what problems arose. We could always ask and easily get the right answer to our questions as everybody had very good English. Secondly, Swedish people are fantastically kind and gentle. They were willing to help us even before we asked questions. Their society is so multicultural; there are people from all over the world living there.
2. The Swedish Educational System and its resources.
a) In general, Swedish institutes implements far better safety and health measures at workshops and classrooms than those implemented in Spain. The Educational administration invests much more money in machinery, personal protective equipment and good security systems than we do.
b) Teachers have 17 lectures per week. Each lecture lasts 45 minutes although teachers do have to stay at work 35 hours a week. They have to work in the morning and in the afternoon, allowing them to have lunch at the institute canteen. The Educational administration also offers a Mac laptop and a mobile phone which are necessary for the teachers work. All teachers have a room that they share with other colleagues where they are be able to prepare their lectures, with their own tables, furniture and books filled with educational materials.
c) Students get money from the educational administration to study from Secondary Studies till post degree studies. All students get a laptop from the administration.
3. Beggars in the Stockholm streets. I never thought I would find indigent people in Swedish streets. In Sweden, there is poverty as well. We stayed in Stockholm time enough to realize that homelessness is a big problem too.
